Jetty Berth and Dolphins

EPC Contract for construction of two mooring dolphins, 2 berthing dolphins and a new platform (for manifolds) on existing jetty at Bandin Oil Terminal, in Guinea-Bissau. This project also includes the demolition of the existing structures (to be replaced) and the installation of temporary berthing and mooring structures to allow the use of the Terminal during the construction phase.

The new (permanent) structures are composed by:

  • Dolphins mooring – 4 driven steel piles of 1220mm // 21.6mm, connected by a rigid prefabricated metal frame in which a double quick release hook (QRH) of 60 ton will be installed;
  • Berthing dolphins – 9 driven steel piles of 1220mm // 21.6mm, connected by a rigid prefabricated metal frame in which a double quick release hook (QRH) of 60 ton and a fender system (composed by two conical fenders and a steel panel 10m high by 3m wide) will be installed;
  • New platform: 4 driven steel piles 1220mm // 21.6mm, connected by a prefabricated steel structure in which the prefabricated slabs will be installed.

At the end of September 2019, the installation of the temporary berthing and mooring structures (ETA of the first vessel on 6 October) and the piling works on the upstream mooring dolphin were complete. The piling works performed during September were subjected to the performance of dynamic load tests to determine the load capacity of the piles.
