New Breakwater and Quay of Cabinda Port

In 2017, Seth started the consortium work on the sub-contract for the construction of the new dockable breakwater at the Port of Cabinda in Angola. This work is part of a port and passenger port infrastructures project, awarded by the Maritime and Port Institute of Angola to the company China Gezhouba Group Company, Ltd.

The contract includes the construction of a breakwater of approximately 660m in length (divided between an access road with 295m long and 12.5m wide) and a liable area of ​​365m long by 39.8m wide and one ramp RO-RO.
As infrastructures to support the quay, a concierge building, a saltwater catchment and pumping building, a water reservoir, and a VTS tower were built.

The structural solution used involves the creation of a vibro-compacted landfill, using sands from dredging, contained by two combined wall curtains (HZ800 + AZ18-800 planks) with variable lengths between 8m and 24.5m, each other. The superstructure consists of crown beams and deflector wall in reinforced concrete.

Due to the length of the profiles / piles and to the geotechnical profile of the terrain, the water-jetting technique was successfully used and used to aid the drilling with the vibrating hammer.

Given the specificity of the site and the work to be done, Seth used its own machinery (sea and land) to carry out all the drilling, namely:

Vibrating hammer ICE 55NF and ICE 815;
Impact Hammer IHC S-90 and PVE 9NL;
Crane Liebherr LR1160 and Kobelco CKE1100;
Self-elevating platform;
Self-propelled modular barge.
