The Administration of the Port of Aveiro (APA) awarded to Seth the contract for the construction of a new berth for ships for around seven million euros in Gafanha da Nazaré, Ílhavo (Portugal).
This berth was designed to support the productivity of companies that install production units in the Port of Aveiro, and was assumed to be strategic to allow the appropriate transport operation for the dimensions and weight of the elements in question, reducing logistical costs that would be associated with the transfer between the manufacturing site and the shipping point.
The works of this contract, with a duration of 340 days, consisted of the execution of a berth within the Port of Aveiro, to be used by a company producing large-scale structures for the construction of offshore wind towers.
Due to the high loads, the executed pier was the first to consider overloads of this dimension and to be dimensioned for this purpose.
In terms of quantities of materials and works, the aforementioned contract comprised:
Execution of 120 driven metal piles of Ø1016 mm and 18 mm thick for the foundations of the deck.
200 ml x 25 ml reinforced concrete tray, including all dock accessories, namely, 14 fenders and 14 bollards. The water network was also installed on the pier.
Construction of pavement with base and sub-base, for the execution of a concrete pavement slab and pave layer with a thickness of 10 cm.
Within the scope of the contract, 2 dolphins mooring were also built in metal piles and two concrete blocks for bollards.
